The Cause
Habitat for Humanity Australia is a non-profit Christian organisation, which builds simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with low income families.

Habitat aims to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. We invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.

Since 1976, Habitat has built more than 200,000 houses in 100 countries. A Habitat house is completed somewhere in the world every twenty four minutes.

The Challenge
Anna Palozzi, an Account Executive at Telstra Corporation has joined a Global Village volunteer team that will travel to Nepal from 02-16 October 2008 to build homes in partnership with Habitat for Humanity house building program.

The houses are sold to partner families at less than market value, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowner’s monthly mortgage payments are used to build more and more homes. Homeowner families are chosen according to their need, their ability to repay the loan and their willingness to invest 500 hours of their own labour (sweat equity) into building their Habitat home.
