The Cause
Peter Short competed in the 2010 Ironman New Zealand to raise funds for the Day of Difference Foundation.
The Day of Difference Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to working for critically injured children and their families. Throughout Australia over 60,000 children are seriously injured each year.
The Day of Difference Foundation work together with sponsors and donors to build a community of support for all children and their families who are struggling with life changing critical injuries. During the past four years the funds that have been raised, have helped make a significant contribution to the survival and recovery of critically injured children.
The Challenge
The Ironman New Zealand consists of a 3.8km Swim, followed by a 180km bike ride and finishes off with a full marathon 42km run. The race is run at Taupo, New Zealand and is a qualifying race for the World Championships that are held in Kona, Hawaii each year.
Ironman New Zealand was only Pete’s second ever Ironman and he finished in an amazing time of 9 hours, 33 minutes and 4 seconds putting him in 35th position overall. This time landed Pete a spot in the World Championships which will be held in Hawaii in October 2010.
Donations
Techhead Interactive donated $500 to Peter Short’s fundraising efforts which went straight to the Day of Difference Foundation.
