The Challenge
The inaugural North Face 100km event will be run in the Blue Mountains on Saturday 17 May, 2008. This event is unquestionably the toughest, most amazing endurance race in Australia. The race starts and finishes at Leura, and includes 100km of undulating hills with several grades over 1000m, multiple of which are within 10kms of each other. The race has a cut-off time of 30 hours making the race only for serious competitors.

The Reason - "A message from Jane"
"It’s just on 8 years since my older brother David lost his battle with Breast Cancer & I do miss him greatly. I continue to be inspired by his strength, courage & wisdom, so would like to run this race as a fund raiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. This is purely a fund raising body, which then distributes the funds to critical Breast Cancer Research projects being done in Australia".

"David always encouraged me to extend the extra distance, to believe in myself & take-on a challenge. Having witnessed my parents over the years of David's illness and subsequently since his death increase the awareness of the high incidence rates and devastating effects of Breast Cancer and the need for finding a cure, I have a strong desire to continue helping them with this worthwhile cause. My parents have been a great support in my training over these last few months & certainly will do so for the event in May".

Jane’s competition success to date

1. Completed 3 x 100km Oxfam Sydney TrailWalker Fund Raising events
2. Completed the 45km Six Foot Track Marathon from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves in 6 hours. (regarded as the toughest marathon in the world)
3. Completed a 5 hour endurance race through the Megalong Valley in the Blue Mountains
